DIFFICULTY: Beginner

Overview

Paint pouring is a fun, creative, and mesmerizing crafting project that is great for all ages! Learn how to mix, pour and move the paint in this quick tutorial.

1

Gather Your Materials

You’ll want to start by gathering your materials. This includes a canvas for pouring the paint, a Wagner heat gun for moving and drying the paint, and several colors of paint to create a unique design. Choosing the correct type of paint is important. Local craft stores have paint specifically designed for paint pouring or you can use regular acrylic paint mixed with a pouring medium.

Pour Each Color into a Cup

To create unique effects, pour a 1-2 ounces of each paint color into one plastic cup. You can layer and alternate the colors to create unique designs when it’s poured onto the canvas.

Pour Paint Onto Canvas

Next, slowly pour the paint filled cup onto the canvas. As you pour the paint, you’ll see each color blend and swirl together to create a fun, marbled effect.

Spread the Paint

Once all of the paint is poured, tilt the canvas to spread the paint and ensure complete coverage. You can also use a Wagner FURNO Micro Craft Kit to help with this process. Attach the Flare Nozzle and turn the heat to the low setting to help move the paint.

Dry the Paint

Finally, allow the paint to dry. To speed up the process, you can use the FURNO Micro heat gun again with the Flare Nozzle. Turn the heat gun to the high setting and wave it over your artwork to dry the paint.
