Rated 5 out of 5 by Pappy from Great value Just bought this from local home improvement store to paint my new rough sawn cedar fence. Builder did "good neighbor" style so every other slat is switched. Sprayer kicked out 8 foot high by 200 feet in about 4 hours, 2 coats, one with nozzle vertical, then one coat horizontal. Covered great, no over spray on neighbors, clean up was so simple, water based stain/paint, so soap and water and soft brush made it look like I just took it out of the box. Best Buy I've made for my senior retiree tool collection

Is this a good sprayer for an oil based stain/sealer such as CWF UV Clear deck sealer??
If it is the Flood CWF-UV5 oil clear wood finish then you should be able to spray it but you may need to thin it. If you would like to call us at 1-800-328-8251 we can discuss it with you.

What is the viscosity rating of this unit in a #4 cup?
The Control Stainer is for spraying stains and other thin bodied materials like polyurethane. We don't have a suggested viscosity limit for this sprayer, but un-thinned latex paint will not spray well. For an in depth discussion contact technical support at 800-328-8251.

I dont understand how the material flow control knob works. Turned it counterclockwise and it came off?! Im staining rails/spindles on my deck, keeping the sprayer about 12 in away and Iconstantly have to go back with a brush to smooth drips
The flow control knob merely restricts how far you can pull the trigger. Less pull - less fluid, more pull - more fluid. When you are too far away you tend to compensate by increasing the amount of fluid. Too much fluid causes spit, overspray and the application of excess material, which runs. Keep the sprayer about 6" away and cut down on the flow of fluid. Good luck with your project. We're here to help at technical support 800-328-8251.
