How to Use the Wagner SMART SideKick

Step 1 – Setup

Attach Wagner SMART SideKick electric paint roller to the paint bucket, and turn power switch to on

Step 2 – Prime Roller

Using the auto-feed control button, prime the roller with paint by pressing the auto-feed control button. The released position is off. When paint appears on the roller cover, you can begin to paint.

Step 3 – Distribute the Paint

Begin rolling to distribute the paint. A saturated roller allows you to keep a wet edge for the most even finish. Do not over saturate the roller, and treat your first few rolls as distribution across the roller cover surface. Oversaturating the roller can cause it to drip, slip, and slide on the surface.

Step 4 – Paint in 3 x 3 Sections

Start on one of the wall, and work your way towards the other end in 3 foot by 3 foot sections. Use the auto-feed button to start/stop the flow of paint to match the cadence of your rolling speed.

Step 5 – How to Get Smooth Roller Coverage

To blend working sections, finish by painting from top to bottom in one solid sweep (if possible). This will help ensure a smooth finish.

Paint Rolling Tips

If you need to stop to take a break, we suggest finishing the current wall, or stopping at a doorway or corner to prevent lap marks. Then cover your roller with a plastic bag, and seal it to keep your roller wet until you begin again. An roller extension-pole might be needed for taller walls, controlling the flow of paint is easier in the down stroke when the auto-feed button is naturally closer to reach.
