Rated 5 out of 5 by JeremyC from Rough-hewn rafters and deck One word...AWESOME! Perfect application...easy cleanup. This product did what the box said it would. I brushed and hand rolled my front porch...but bought this for the back porch. Finished in half the time with the same results.

Manuel says may be used with "some paints". How about Sherwin Williams Pro Industrial, DTM Acrylic Coating? It's a water based paint. Do I need to thin?
I would not recommend the Control Spray 250 with Sherwin Williams material. They make their materials on the thicker side so you would have to thin the material quite a bit. I would recommend looking at our Flexio 590. It is very similar to this one but it has a stronger motor. There still will be some thinning involved but not as much as with this unit. can i spray rust oleum professional enamel paint without thining ?
The Control Stainer 250 is designed to be used with thin-bodied materials( like stain, sealers and enamels) and to deliver a smooth finish. To achieve this detail finish, the sprayer has to have a smaller orifice for the paint to be sprayed and thicker materials will have issues spraying correctly and Rustoleum can be known to make their materials on the thicker side. It came with a little bag with some kind of grease. What is that for? I did not see it mentioned in the instructions.
Where the front end connects to the sprayer handle there is an o-ring that should be lubricated each time, after cleaning. Please make sure to read and follow all cleaning, care and maintenance procedures in the owner's manual. If you have more questions you can contact technical support at 800-328-8251.

What is the pack of Vaseline for? Inside the control spray 250 paint reservoir was a packet of Vaseline. The manual doesn't say where to apply it in the gun
The Vaseline is used on the O-ring that located at the rear of the front end when it is separated for the motor. If you go to page 10 in the manual box 4 will reference to lubricate this O-ring during the clean up process. Please call our technical support department at 1(800)328-8251 if you have any other questions or needs.

can this be used with general finishes milk paint
It sure can. You may want to thin it for better results, but no more than 10-20% with water. Spray from 6" away and adjust the gun for maximum flow with minimum spit. Spit is from having too much fluid in the air flow. Reduce the fluid flow and spit goes away. For more spraying techniques give us a call at 800-328-8251.
