
Painting Doors with a SMART roller
Learn how to easily paint pocket doors using the Wagner SMART Roller. These old, brown doors were refreshed in no time with this paint roller.
Prep and prime doors
Prep your doors. Remove the door hardware, fill holes with wood filler, and sand the entire door. Use painters tape to protect your trim.
Prime your doors if needed.

Assemble roller
Put the SMART Roller together.
Rub some petroleum jelly on the SMART Roller's fill tube.
Clip the fill tube to the paint container.
Put the fill valve onto the fill tube.

Fill roller with paint
Pull the plunger, filling the roller with paint.

Paint doors
Paint your doors. Push the plunger until paint comes through the roller. Work in 3’x3’ sections.

Refill roller
Refill your SMART roller if needed.

Complete final steps of project
Take down your painters tape.
Clean your SMART roller.
Let the doors dry.
Put the door hardware back on.
