Step by Step

Preparing and cleaning the surface is one of the most important parts of the painting process. Follow these simple steps to ensure your job looks great and lasts for years to come

Step 1

Remove the flower box from the deck, house or other structure.

Step 2

Remove all the flowers and dirt from the box. Clean the flower box with water. Hose out all the dirt and get completely clean. Let the flower box dry thoroughly.

Step 3

Sand down any spots that have peeling paint. The Wagner PaintEater is a powerful tool that makes paint removal fast and easy. Or you can use a sanding block or wire brush to remove the flaking paint.

Step 4

Move the flower box to your work area, either in a workshop or on a drop cloth.

Now that you've completed the paint prep work, you're ready to begin painting

Step 1

Select high quality paint so it will cover well, providing good protection and durability.

Start spraying at the top of the lower box. Spray evenly and cover all sides, even the bottom for additional protection against the harsh weather.

Step 2

Let the flower box dry completely before adding a second coat if necessary.

Now that you've completed the paint prep work, you're ready to begin painting
