Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy product and easy to use! I wanted this product to remove layers of very old wallpaper from a small cottage bathroom. Firstly, there are only a few pieces in the box which makes it very easy and quick to put together. Like other Wagner products, the item felt sturdy. The instructions were very easy to follow and within minutes I was able to begin using it. It took about 10-15 minutes for the water to heat up and steam to be hot enough to start working. Some water will drip down the wall as it's being used but having a sponge handy will take care of this. The steamer did a great job at areas with only one layer of paper, but a couple of passes were needed for multiple layers. The smaller attachment is very handy for steaming small areas around light switches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than a rental I only have border paper to take down and this works great. The industrial size rental I used for $33/ day did not work as good as this. I heats up fast, and produces plenty of steam. The part of the paper that was not prepped properly when put up takes long, but it is all coming off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW!! Wallpaper removing made easy. I removed floor to ceiling wallpaper in a hallway, kitchen, laundry room, master bathroom and guest bathroom in 5 hours. Based on previous removal projects, I thought I was looking at a 3 day project. I forgot the scraper, so just the steamer and fingers. As a frequent DYI this was by far the easiest wallpaper removal job in my 60 year lifetime. Take your time and let the steam heat and moisten the old glue. It did take about ten minutes to heat the water to produce steam, but I had to start with cold water as water heater was not working. I did my water refills when moving between rooms and used the heating time to clean-up the previous room. My run time per filling would have been about 150 minutes or double the specs as I used 2 gallons of water for the entire project. My interior house temperature was 50 degrees as the furnace was not operating. Bottom-line best DIY tool investment I have made in a long long time. I was impressed and cannot recommend this product enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second Unit - Great Many years ago when bought my house I sed a previous unit and was great, and then my daughter borrowed it and then my just borrowed it. Doing my house over and needed it, so I gave mine to my son and bought a new one and it even works better than the old one. Steams up very fast and I was able to do one big room with one tank of water and moved onto a second room. Great product would recommend it to anyone doing large rooms, very easy to use and clean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 715 Power Steamer Yet another great product from Wagner! We purchased a 100 year old home with plaster walls, so of course, covered with two layers of paint, a layer of wall paper, another layer of paint two layers of wall paper and another layer of paint on top of wall paper! This guy steamed through it all with easy removal! This is an amazing product. So easy to use!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than chemicals I had never used a steamer to remove wallpaper before so the first thing I did was research the method. I read and reread the manual and watched a few YouTube videos. Once I felt ready to proceed and started using the 715 I was happy at how well it removed the wallpaper and its ease of use. I recommend covering your floors and to use a scrapper with a clean edge and no nicks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does What It's Made To Do For the past 12 years, we have lived with the homeliest wallpaper known to man. It came with the house when we bought it, but it was finally time to say goodbye. Having never removed wallpaper before, I thought we would try the Wagner Power Steamer 715. Videos on the internet seemed to show that a steamer was the way to go to remove wallpaper. The Wagner Power Steamer 715 was easy enough to set up. I filled the reservoir with water, threaded the hose to the reservoir and the steamplate to the hose, and attached and plugged in the power cord. I had steam in about 15 minutes, just like the instructions said. Now for the wallpaper. I applied steam and nothing seemed to happen. I tried to get up under the paper with a four-inch knife but to no avail. At this point I found that I was gouging the drywall instead of removing the wallpaper. I then tried scoring the paper (per the instructions) and still no release of the paper. I was finally able to get under the top layer of the wallpaper and started pealing that back, but there was a paper backing still stuck to the wall. I found that I had some kind of vinyl wallpaper with a paper backing that was applied directly to a flat painted wall, with no sizing. I had to steam the wallpaper, which then allowed me to peel off the vinyl, and then steam the paper backing and glue, and scrape the wall to get the rest of the mess off. In some places, the paint came off with the paper/glue mess. It took about 5 hours over 2 days to do one wall in our living room. Fortunately, that was the only wall with the wallpaper. I will now have to fill some gouges and level out the wall where the paint came off, but I think there was no way I could have gotten that paper off without the Wagner Power Steamer. When done, I unplugged the unit, unscrewed the hose and steamplate, took off the filler lid, poured the reservoir out, and I was done. The Power Steamer 715 did exactly what it was designed to do: create steam. It worked flawlessly. It would have been nice to have an on/off switch or maybe a trigger for the steam as I found it awkward when moving the ladder or stepping away for other reasons. I either had to lay the steamplate on the floor facing up (while the steam continued to come out, condense, and fill the steamplate with water), or unplug the unit, and plug it back in when I returned. Maybe a higher priced unit has these features? Overall, the Wagner Power Steamer 715 helped me do a job I had been dreading for 12 years, and though I ran into many obstacles, I got the job done quicker and easier than I ever imagined.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! Saves time on stubborn old wallpaper I received this Wagner 715 Power Steamer with the hopes it would make the job easier for removing old wallpaper. It did just that. It took approximately 15 minutes from the time I plugged it in, to the time it was steaming and was ready for use. I held it in one spot about 4 seconds and took a putty knife to the area and it peeled right off. Once I got a rhytm going and enough area steamed you could peel most off by hand. I did an area approximately 4 foot by 7 foot in about 9 minutes. Now this was working with a 1925 era house with 2-3 full layers of wallpaper over plaster type walls. I stripped it down to the bare plaster. I would recommend this product as it worked much better than any other method we had previously tried or attempted. I did score part of the area prior to using this, but when I got that area stripped, I just kept going and it worked fine on the areas without being scored, maybe just needed a bit more steaming than the scored area. Now this does drip water and is a messy job, but that was expected since you are dealing with steam/water, so best to cover stuff in the area with plastic or something if you don't want any water or debris from removing the wallpaper.

I just bought this and it took 40 minutes to heat up the first time. It’s been almost an hour since I refilled it and I’m frustrated. It was unplugged when I filled it. I stopped the unit when the steam stopped. The casing is hot but no steam. ???

Asked by: Laural
To cut down on heat up time, add hot water to the tank. Cold water stops the process and you start all over again with heat. With room temperature water it should take about 20-25 minutes to heat up, if it's taking longer, call us at 1-888-783-2612 for warranty service.

why Power steamer will not get hot enough to steam.

Asked by: Roger2
Try cleaning the heating element with a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water. Let it sit in the tank for 30 minutes then pour it out. If it's milky, those are hard water deposits that are stopping it from heating up. Rinse and repeat if it seems bad enough, then try heating water again.

I am considering using the steamer for another small project that requires very high temperature steam. Can you tell me what the temp of the steam coming out of the 715 is?

Asked by: Sami
The 715 steamer can reach temperatures of 212 degrees but coming out of the hose it may be a little less. If you would like to discuss this or have further questions feel free to call us at 1-800-328-8251.

Wondering if I could put a solution of vinegar and water in the tank to break up some of the glue as well?

Asked by: Cara
There is no reason for glue to be inside the tank. The vinegar/water mixture eliminates the hard water deposits left on the heating element. For more information call us at 800-328-8251.

Can vinegar be used instead of water in the 715 model?    Old wallpaper with a *paste* backing.......vinegar, in a spray bottle, works nicely and removes the wallpaper with the paste/glue.  However very slow.

Asked by: Gasp90
We suggest a 50/50 mix of water and vinegar. Good luck with your project.
