Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stops working after very first use. I bought this steamer from Home Depot. Unit stopped steaming after the first use and refill. Won't get hot. Checked to make sure power cord was inserted snug. There are no lights to even tell you if it is getting power. The manual also has no troubleshooting tips whatsoever.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Two in a row, wouldn’t steam after first use! We bought this steamer from Menards to remove one room full of wallpaper and both the first one AND the replacement unit have stopped steaming after the first use and refill. They get hot, but never produce steam. We thought the original unit had a defect, but it appears that more than one are defective. The manual also has no troubleshooting options and customer service isn’t open on Sunday when most working people have time to do home improvement projects.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Works good It works good but it's overall just bad, you have to poor in water really slow,it's hard to see the water level, and there is no light indicator to tell you weather it on or not, which is really fraustraiting

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good It's not a commercial steamer so don't expect it to be. It is a very good small steamer for home use. Requires some patience to wait for it to saturate and soften the wallpaper but once it has the paper comes off easily. Removed a whole wall floor to ceiling in about 45 min and this was wall paper that simply refused to come of with any other method. Only one issue the hose is still and until it gets warm a royal pain to work with. Overall good product for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I first tried using fabric softener with hot water to remove wallpaper. It was a mess and took a long time to remove small amount of wallpaper. Went to Home Depot and bought this steamer. It works great and removed 30year old wallpaper fast! This is a great product and don’t waste your time on any other method of wallpaper removal!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor product Don't waste your time with this unit, go rent a professional steamer. It only steams at the very bottom where the port comes into the plate. Cheap design, for another few $ of cost they could have had more ports throughout the plate. I'm returning my unit tomorrow and renting a proper one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy under any circumstances!!! I bought the Wagner model 715 steamer for $50 at Lowes. It worked great for the first couple of times, then it started taking forever to generate steam and then it would stop steaming after 2-3 minutes. I was always conscious of the water level to make sure it never ran low or dry. I bought another one and it did the same thing. If I could give this product 0 stars, I would. I now have to shop for another (albeit a non-Wagner) steamer to finish my renovations. I cannot say enough bad things about this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy product and easy to use! I wanted this product to remove layers of very old wallpaper from a small cottage bathroom. Firstly, there are only a few pieces in the box which makes it very easy and quick to put together. Like other Wagner products, the item felt sturdy. The instructions were very easy to follow and within minutes I was able to begin using it. It took about 10-15 minutes for the water to heat up and steam to be hot enough to start working. Some water will drip down the wall as it's being used but having a sponge handy will take care of this. The steamer did a great job at areas with only one layer of paper, but a couple of passes were needed for multiple layers. The smaller attachment is very handy for steaming small areas around light switches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than a rental I only have border paper to take down and this works great. The industrial size rental I used for $33/ day did not work as good as this. I heats up fast, and produces plenty of steam. The part of the paper that was not prepped properly when put up takes long, but it is all coming off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW!! Wallpaper removing made easy. I removed floor to ceiling wallpaper in a hallway, kitchen, laundry room, master bathroom and guest bathroom in 5 hours. Based on previous removal projects, I thought I was looking at a 3 day project. I forgot the scraper, so just the steamer and fingers. As a frequent DYI this was by far the easiest wallpaper removal job in my 60 year lifetime. Take your time and let the steam heat and moisten the old glue. It did take about ten minutes to heat the water to produce steam, but I had to start with cold water as water heater was not working. I did my water refills when moving between rooms and used the heating time to clean-up the previous room. My run time per filling would have been about 150 minutes or double the specs as I used 2 gallons of water for the entire project. My interior house temperature was 50 degrees as the furnace was not operating. Bottom-line best DIY tool investment I have made in a long long time. I was impressed and cannot recommend this product enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second Unit - Great Many years ago when bought my house I sed a previous unit and was great, and then my daughter borrowed it and then my just borrowed it. Doing my house over and needed it, so I gave mine to my son and bought a new one and it even works better than the old one. Steams up very fast and I was able to do one big room with one tank of water and moved onto a second room. Great product would recommend it to anyone doing large rooms, very easy to use and clean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 715 Power Steamer Yet another great product from Wagner! We purchased a 100 year old home with plaster walls, so of course, covered with two layers of paint, a layer of wall paper, another layer of paint two layers of wall paper and another layer of paint on top of wall paper! This guy steamed through it all with easy removal! This is an amazing product. So easy to use!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than chemicals I had never used a steamer to remove wallpaper before so the first thing I did was research the method. I read and reread the manual and watched a few YouTube videos. Once I felt ready to proceed and started using the 715 I was happy at how well it removed the wallpaper and its ease of use. I recommend covering your floors and to use a scrapper with a clean edge and no nicks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does What It's Made To Do For the past 12 years, we have lived with the homeliest wallpaper known to man. It came with the house when we bought it, but it was finally time to say goodbye. Having never removed wallpaper before, I thought we would try the Wagner Power Steamer 715. Videos on the internet seemed to show that a steamer was the way to go to remove wallpaper. The Wagner Power Steamer 715 was easy enough to set up. I filled the reservoir with water, threaded the hose to the reservoir and the steamplate to the hose, and attached and plugged in the power cord. I had steam in about 15 minutes, just like the instructions said. Now for the wallpaper. I applied steam and nothing seemed to happen. I tried to get up under the paper with a four-inch knife but to no avail. At this point I found that I was gouging the drywall instead of removing the wallpaper. I then tried scoring the paper (per the instructions) and still no release of the paper. I was finally able to get under the top layer of the wallpaper and started pealing that back, but there was a paper backing still stuck to the wall. I found that I had some kind of vinyl wallpaper with a paper backing that was applied directly to a flat painted wall, with no sizing. I had to steam the wallpaper, which then allowed me to peel off the vinyl, and then steam the paper backing and glue, and scrape the wall to get the rest of the mess off. In some places, the paint came off with the paper/glue mess. It took about 5 hours over 2 days to do one wall in our living room. Fortunately, that was the only wall with the wallpaper. I will now have to fill some gouges and level out the wall where the paint came off, but I think there was no way I could have gotten that paper off without the Wagner Power Steamer. When done, I unplugged the unit, unscrewed the hose and steamplate, took off the filler lid, poured the reservoir out, and I was done. The Power Steamer 715 did exactly what it was designed to do: create steam. It worked flawlessly. It would have been nice to have an on/off switch or maybe a trigger for the steam as I found it awkward when moving the ladder or stepping away for other reasons. I either had to lay the steamplate on the floor facing up (while the steam continued to come out, condense, and fill the steamplate with water), or unplug the unit, and plug it back in when I returned. Maybe a higher priced unit has these features? Overall, the Wagner Power Steamer 715 helped me do a job I had been dreading for 12 years, and though I ran into many obstacles, I got the job done quicker and easier than I ever imagined.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great time saving tool for wall paper. This product save so much time, money and made this wall paper removal just so easy. I recommend this before trying other ways to remove wall paper. It will do a professional job and reduce your frustration from your job! Easy to use, easy to clean up. Do not think this is tiny for your job, it is not. You will not be sorry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! Saves time on stubborn old wallpaper I received this Wagner 715 Power Steamer with the hopes it would make the job easier for removing old wallpaper. It did just that. It took approximately 15 minutes from the time I plugged it in, to the time it was steaming and was ready for use. I held it in one spot about 4 seconds and took a putty knife to the area and it peeled right off. Once I got a rhytm going and enough area steamed you could peel most off by hand. I did an area approximately 4 foot by 7 foot in about 9 minutes. Now this was working with a 1925 era house with 2-3 full layers of wallpaper over plaster type walls. I stripped it down to the bare plaster. I would recommend this product as it worked much better than any other method we had previously tried or attempted. I did score part of the area prior to using this, but when I got that area stripped, I just kept going and it worked fine on the areas without being scored, maybe just needed a bit more steaming than the scored area. Now this does drip water and is a messy job, but that was expected since you are dealing with steam/water, so best to cover stuff in the area with plastic or something if you don't want any water or debris from removing the wallpaper.

How long does this take to start steaming? I have been waiting for a bit and no light to tell me if it’s on!!

Asked by: Potato
The 715 wallpaper steamer does not have a light to indicate it is ready. It should take 15-20 minutes after it's plugged in to get to temperature. If this is not happening, give us a call at 1-800-328-8251 for technical assistance.

I just bought the Wagner Steamer 715 @ my local Home Depot store.  Today as I was using the steamer it just quit working as I was using it.  I unplugged for about 15 min., plugged it back in and nothing happens.  What is wrong?

Asked by: Mimi1629
I should have checked the GFI outlet.  The GFI reset switch for the master Bath is in my half bath....once I reset the switch it worked.  Sorry for the brain fluff on my part.   I used the unit today with no issues.  Seems to be working just fine.

How to operate

Asked by: Jack brown
The 715 Wallpaper steamer comes with an easy manual for help with setup and use. Basically you fill the tank with water. It will take about 20 minutes to warm up and produce steam. With the steam plate attached to the end of the hose, you hold it against the wallpaper for a number of seconds until it is saturated with hot steam. Then, with a plastic scraper, scrape the damp wallpaper off the wall. Working one small section at a time until it's all down. This will be messy and wet so place a drop cloth along the wall where you are working. For more help call us at 1-800-328-8251.

how many amps does a unit draw?

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for the inquiry ! 715 Steamer is a 1500W unit that has a draw of 12.1 Amps. Your best bet will be to run an extension cord to your work area from the nearest outlet, unless equipped with a special high amperage circuit (over 120 Amps), will not be able to handle the requirements to run this unit. Please give our technical support a call at 1-800-328-8251 and we will be able to assist you.
