What are the full specifications of the machine. I have a flexio 4000. I was wondering if it can do the same job as the motocoat

Asked by: Chata
The MotoCoat is an HVLP unit that operates at 3.5psi/40cfm. Please confirm your numbers as they relate to an air compressor, not HVLP. The difference is that the MotoCoat is built for spark free operation and is therefore safer with volatile fluids. The Flexio 690 is designed for around the house painting projects. For an in depth discussion you are welcome to call technical support a call at 1-800-328-8251 and we will able to assist you.

Are there more specs such as 4.5 CFM's at 70 psineedle sizes, Motor watts? Can you use other HVLP guns? Will this work to apply Lizardskin Insulation and to spray Duplicolor Automotive Lacquer Finish System paint?

Asked by: doin100mph
This sprayer is not rated the way a fine finish sprayer would be with PSI and CFM's and is not interchangeable with other HVLP spray guns. This sprayer should be good for spraying the Lizardskin. As for the finish paint this isn’t an automotive quality finish sprayer so it will not produce a showroom finish such as what you would generally want on a car. If you would like to give us a call at 1-800-328-8251 we will assist you with picking out a sprayer.

Do you plan to release a smaller nozzle for base coat/clear coat paint? Something around 1.4mm would be perfect.

Asked by: Jeremy H
At this time, we do not have any plans for changing the nozzles on the MotoCoat. We do however, make sprayers for fine finishing. Take a look at these -http://www.rockler.com/rockler-finishing-sprayer http://www.rockler.com/earlex-spray-station-5500-with-15mm-fluid-tip-needle http://www.rockler.com/earlex-hv6003pus-hvlp-sprayport All three of these units have needles ranging from 0.8mm up to 2.5mm. Hi, Can Motocoat sprayer be used to apply Low VOC Eastwood 2 stage basecoat and clearcoat? If so, are there any preferred settings using the 0529013 sprayer? Thanks. Willie

It should spray great! Keep power up and fluid flow down for better atomization. Use the detail finish front end on the gun and spray from 6" away. For tips about application contact us at 800-328-8251.

Which will do a better job of spraying automotive clear coat mixed with fine glitter; iSpray Nozzle or Detail Finish Nozzle?

Asked by: KingCold
Use the detail finish nozzle for fine finishing. Using a grit or texture in the sprayer can prematurely wear the nozzle/needle and may require replacement earlier than expected. For tips and tricks call us at 800-328-8251.

Follow up question. Can I use the Wagner motocoat sprayer to spray rust bullet automotive primer on an old pickup bed? This type of primer is thick and has aluminum powder in it.

The manufacturer is talking about an air compressor system. The MotoCoat is an HVLP system and it should do fine with the undercoating.

Can the two air filters on the turbine unit be washed and reused or must they be replaced? (The turbine unit is always kept far away from spray zone)

Can the motosprayer be used to paint interior/exterior projects at home also?

Asked by: Captain
Yes, definitely, it works just like the Flexio 690 spray kit (just this unit has a spark resistant motor design and a 39' hose). I find the longer hose easy to work with if you can pre-plan the job and just set the turbine in one place and leave it. If you have mostly smaller jobs, you can always get a shorter hose from Wagner Parts. (I got a 20' second hose for my smaller projects)

Using multiple hoses?

Can the 690 hose be used with the MotoCoat turbine unit? If yes can I buy the MotoCoat complete kit and just the 690 hose (from parts store)? This would give me the flexibility of a longer hose for big outside jobs and the shorter hose for inside!! OR CAN is this better done in reverse - buy 690 complete kit and just the longer 39' MotoCoat hose as a spare part? Thank you

Technically, yes, the hoses are interchangeable. The difference is that the MotoCoat is built for spark free operation and is therefore safer with volatile fluids. How does the MotoCoat spray kit perform vs the 690 spray kit for a typical range of non-auto paint jobs?

I was considering the 690 kit for painting walls, ceilings, fences with typical latex paints and Behr stains. Additionally I would like to use it for coating furniture I build with stains, lacquers, polyurethane, etc. Then I saw the MotoCoat kit which appears to have the same "gun" (front end) capabilities but with a hose over twice as long! (15 ft vs 39 ft I believe). This longer hose is very appealing for much of my "around the house" work. But how does this longer hose impact the spray performance (quality, spray rates, etc.)?? If the turbine in the 690 and MotoCoat are essentially the same (except for spark issues), does pushing a much longer column of air (back pressure) in the MotoCoat cause it to behave differently than the 690 when spraying poly, for example or latex on a wall?? Which would you chose? Thank you
Asked by: Yaks
All things being equal, the gun at the end of the longer hose will have slightly less pressure, but overall performance should not be affected. It would do fine for the around the house projects also. Good luck with your projects.
