Flexio 690 Sprayer is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent sprayer used with very thick paint and covered and worked very well in any surface
Date published: 2019-08-07
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Only good for one round of paint My stick handle on my roller broke so I decided to go ahead and just buy a sprayer kit. I went with this one because of the easy handling. Well it worked just fine until I had to refill. Once you refill BAM paint everywhere out the side in globs. Turns out the paint dries inside the nozzle so you have to completely take the front end apart between each use. Wagner, seriously is this product worthless or am I missing something... or maybe just not designed for latex paint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use, easy to clean I used the Flexio 690 to stain a lattice fence and lattice wall under my pool deck. It took me 50 minutes to stain and 15 minutes to clean up and put back together. It gave a nice even finish and I only needed to put on one coat. On the 4X4 posts of the lattice fence, I used a brush to even it out and prevent any running of the stain. Next time I have a staining project, I won't put it off because this product makes it so much quicker and easier.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not high quality just doesn't work This sprayer flat out doesn't work. If you're looking for detailed professional paint job this is not it. No matter what I did even dinning the material beyond recommendation it would still splatter and not paint and even finish

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Storage Bag NOT Big Enough I will change my review once I have actually tried the product. However, WAGNER YOU NEED TO MAKE THE STORAGE BAG BIGGER! I have tried a few different configurations and while everything will fit, it will not zip closed. Engineers, go back to the drawing board and send me a bag that is functional.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Painted my privacy fence in no time! Yesterday I stained the inside of my privacy fence (6ft x 8ft panels and I have 25 panels to stain, including the posts). it only took me 3 hours to stain 25 panels and that is including a 30 minute lunch break. So actually it only took me 2 and a half hours to paint 25 panels. My only gripe is cleaning the gun and all the small parts that remove from the gun. I'm sure all spray guns are a pain to clean, and I am very thorough on cleaning my tools and ensuring they work for many years to come. Even with staining the fence and then cleaning I only spent about 3.5-4 hours total. I will continue my job on the next nice day I have to see how the flexio 690 will hold up after the cleaning. I will update this post or post another review of the product if I have any troubles, but I don't anticipate having any issues. I would definitely recommend this product to a friend. My only reason for not giving this product an "excellent" review is due to the time spent cleaning and the plastic movable pieces that seem fragile, especially the trigger which needs to be removed to clean the handle well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For a professional look the Wagner Flexio 690 is exactly what you want. The Wager Flexio 690 is a jewel to work with. It is light weight and very balanced with paint in the container which makes it easy to use and handle. It has very little over-spray. My husband and I were painting a bathroom vanity, 4 drawers, 3 doors and the vanity box. I hate paint brush/roller marks so I thought a sprayer would be the way to go. I had purchased another sprayer which was a disaster, dumped paint everywhere and then I had to start from scratch after removing the mess the first sprayer made. Needless to say I was not happy about starting a project over and having to remove paint from my doors and drawers. I decided to try another sprayer and use the Flexio 690, I am so happy I did, as this paint sprayer did a wonderful job. The sprayer comes with a nice storage case and 2 containers. One for detailed work and one for general painting. You do not have to thin latex paint to use this sprayer. The sprayer was very easy to use. Set up is stress-free, just pour your paint in the container check your settings and start painting. Practice first on a piece of cardboard or use the paper instructions which are included in the box to get familiar with handling the sprayer. After our practice session we found the Wagner 690 sprayed a nice even pattern which was easily maintained with no drips or runs. We did use a high grade advanced paint which gave our project a profession look. Start your painting project by pulling the trigger half-way this starts the motor, and then pull the trigger all the way to start painting. The direction of the paint can be adjusted to control the amount of material and width. The instructions said you can also paint ceilings, which will be a big plus down the line for us. We hate painting ceilings. If you experience any problems call their customer service line they provide immediate help. Wagner provides very detailed directions on how to clean the sprayer. Their instructions are clear and concise. Cleaning is easy but can be time consuming. I wanted to make sure everything was cleaned well as we had several coats of paint to spray on and the weather was not cooperating with us. Make sure that the suction tube is cleaned out well. The cleaning did go faster after each use. In conclusion, after priming, and painting 3 coats of paint I would highly recommend the Wagner 690 paint sprayer, it provides a high end finish and easy to use. After seeing how great the Flexio 690 preformed, we are contemplating painting our kitchen cabinets which will be a big job, and which I had no intention of starting. But the upgrade will be worth it in the end. We also have 2 rooms to paint and since the over-spray was minimal I will not hesitate to use the paint sprayer in the house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We're moving and I've been painting like crazy Bought the Wagner 690 hoping to easy my pain, because I have to tell you I'd rather pay taxes than paint! Get the picture? I hate painting! I have 12 rooms to paint most of the will require 2 or 3 coats because my wife and I love exotic colors but real estate agents hate them I did the first 2 rooms with a roller, OMG I rather step on a bees nest in bare feet. Bought the Wagner 690 and have painted 4 room with the little gadget and while there are hundreds of things I'd rather be doing besides painting, I can at least say now I'd rather paint than pay taxes or get stung by bees. I've read a million review and I have to say anytime the machine didn't work right WAS MY FAULT. It only happen twice, once I did not tighten the nut on the end of the nozzle and as advertised it made a big mess. The 2nd time I had refiled the paint jar and laid the nozzle assembly down upside down so it wouldn't drip. That must be a no-no, because when I put it back in service it didn't wok well. Regardless in both cases all I did was clean the nozzle as directed and that resolved any problems I caused.

How do you store the Flexio 690 for long period of time? Is it ok to use Graco Pump fluid and follow those directions?

Asked by: trey
With this unit being a HVLP(High Volume Low Pressure) sprayer you don't need to use any specific fluid for long term storage like you would for an airless sprayer. You would want to follow the cleaning instructions in the manual before putting into storage. Asked by: na001
Yes it can. Use the detail front end, thin the paint 10% with water, add flow agent too. Lay the doors down and spray down on them, gravity will help get a better finish. Stand the doors up and gravity makes it harder to get a nice finish. For more technical support contact us at 800-328-8251.

I'm wondering just how extensive the overspray might be. Will this require extensive masking and taping for indoor use, or is control fine enough that it isn't necessary?

Asked by: jim p
When spraying inside a home where people live, there is no sprayer made that won't cause you to mask and tape areas off. With HVLP(High Volume Low Pressure), like the 690, overspray is minimized, but there still is some. With practice you can learn to control the overspray even better through proper adjustment and thinning of product. For an in depth discussion call us at 800-328-8251.

i just purchased a wagner flexio 690. i used it two times with satisfactory results. However, after filling it for the third time, it completely quit priming paint into the gun. I've looked at the troubleshooting guide and can't seem to figure it out.

Asked by: Brian R
If you are using the iSpray front end it's most likely a clog in an air passage. On the suction tube, just below the white cup gasket, you will find a very small hole that most likely has paint in it. Use a paper clip or toothpick to clear it out and test your sprayer with water. You're always welcome to contact us at 800-328-8251.

I am new to using the 690. First day's usage it worked great. Now it begins spraying paint as soon as I turn on the power and prior to pulling the trigger. I am using the Ispray with latex paint. Frustrating while trying to paint kitchen cabinets.
Asked by: Scooter
It sounds like there may be some paint slowing down the needle that closes off the nozzle, preventing spray. Check to make sure everything is clean and that the ring that holds everything together on the front end is tight. If this continues, contact technical support at 800-328-8251.

Can the Flexio 690 model be used with chalk paint?

Asked by: Nuke
Yes the Flexio 690 can be used to spray chalk paint. We suggest using the Detail Front end instead of using the iSpray Front end for spraying the chalk paint. The iSpray Front end will spray unthinned materials including latex paint and is ideal for projects such as spraying walls, small buildings, fences etc... and will provide a roller-like, or slightly stippled finish. The Detail Front end is best used on your fine finish projects such as spraying cabinets, furniture, doors, trim etc. and will provide a smoother, finer finish than the iSpray Front end. Depending on the chalk paint, the Detail Front end may require some thinning in order to spray properly. If you have any other questions feel free to call us at 1-800-328-8251

I have a couple of rooms to paint and popcorn ceilings that need some special attention. Can I use oil based and latex?

Would there be any problem using this to undercoat with oil based and overcoat with latex based?
Asked by: TBuck
The Flexio line can handle both oil based and latex paints. Remember to only tilt the gun back to about 60 degrees at the ceiling, never straight up. More than 60 can send paint backwards into the turbine and possibly burn out the motor. Be sure and clean at the end of the day using water and/or mineral spirits.

Whats the difference between the 690 and 590

Is there any difference apart from the 590 is more of a gun type. Is this the only difference?
Asked by: stephencaso
The Flexio 590 is a handheld sprayer that comes with an iSpray Front end, a Detail Front end, and a carrying case. The Flexio 690 comes with the iSpray Front end, the Detail Front end, a 15ft hose, and a storage bag for the hose and front ends. The 590 has a two stage trigger so you pull the trigger slightly to start the turbine before pulling all the way to spray your material. The 690 has a constant flow of air as soon as the turbine is turned on and will spray when you pull the trigger on the front end. Because the motor is directly attached to the front end on the Flexio 590 it cannot be tilted upward at more than a 45 degree angle but the Flexio 690 can be. Both Flexio’s have the same size motor, material and flow controls. If you would like further assistance feel free to call us at 1-800-328-8251 and we will assist you.

Anyway to avoid "orange peel" with acrylic interior/exterior paint?

I just bought this tool and plan to use it for various things (stain on small wood projects, paint on other things etc). I noticed it says it produces an orange peel like finish perfect for interior walls (like a roller). Any way if I'm painting say outdoor rocking chairs and a white high gloss acrylic to avoid that? I know I can't put the material through the detail sprayer per the manual but I'm wondering if I can get a smooth finish? thanks!
Asked by: watson524
For a "finer" finish, use the "detail" front end. Thin the paint about 10% with water, also add a flow agent, such as Floetrol (2oz per quart of paint). Spray from 6" from the project and adjust the flow so there is no spit. If it is spitting, you have too much paint flow. If you have other questions please call us at 800-328-8251

I am not interested in spraying bed liners so if I had a longer hose would the Flexio 690 work for automotive paint?

I read the question about the difference between the Motocoat and Flexio 690. I only would be interested in spraying automative paint and not bedliners or peelable dip coatings. Would the Flexio 690 with a longer hose to put outside the work area work for this application?
Asked by: Gary911
Neither the Flexio 690 nor the MotoCoat will produce a showroom-grade finish that you would generally desire with an automotive paint. The 690 will also only be compatible with water and oil-based coatings that clean up with soap and water or mineral spirits.

The MotoCoat has a spark-contained turbine to ensure compatibility with bedliners and peelable "dip" coatings. The hose is also longer to allow the turbine to be placed outside of the work area. The 690 is not compatible with those types of coatings.

Asked by: C5Engr
There are no real differences between how you'd typically spray straight ahead (ex:a wall) vs. how you'll spray a ceiling. The 690 can be sprayed straight up towards a ceiling. As with typical spraying, you'll overlap your spray pattern roughly 50% to achieve even coverage.
