Control Spray Max Finishing Sprayer is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from paint I liked the overall experience, however I wish I could load more paint. The only other complaint it tends to be difficult to pour paint from a 1 gl. can into the plastic container

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good sprayer for small to medium jobs. I used it on a new fence. Used acrylic solid stain and plugged up every 5min. I thinned (manufacturer said not to), and it worked fine. I guess I’ll only use it with a thin to medium fluid paint products. Had to back brush per manuf instructions for spray application, but still better than a brush.

This says it can spray thicker paints without thinning, specifically do u know if I could spray kilz primer without having to thin?

Asked by: Elrod987
For Kilz primers we suggest something stronger, like the Flexio line of HVLP. https://www.wagnerspraytech.com/?s=flexio

I purchased the Control Max sprayer and am curious regarding the difference between the front end that came with the unit and The Detail Finish Nozzle part number 0529013. If there is a difference between the two, which would work best for spraying stain

Asked by: Sibot
The Control Spray Max comes with the detail finish nozzle (0529013). They are the same and are just right for controlled stain application, like cabinets or woodwork.

Is there an accessory available to allow drawing paint directly from the bucket? Pouring paint from a 5 gal. bucket into the included cup seems daunting. My last Wagner sprayer had that accessory included with the kit.

Asked by: TeeMo
You cannot draw paint directly from the can using HVLP sprayers, except our Flexio 990 and 970 models which have a pump for moving paint to the spray gun. Check them out at www.wagnerspraytech.com

The Control max comes with a fine finish nozzle, but there is no hose on the side. What is the purpose of the side hose on the replacement #0529013?

Asked by: Dan C
All HVLP cups are pressurized with air from the system. That clear tube is where the air goes into the cup. Cup that don't have the tube have an internal tube through the gun head for that purpose. Without pressure in the cup, to push paint into the gun head for spraying, nothing will spray.

Can this gun be used for spraying lacquer. I have a furniture refinishing business. I was using a Wagner CS2000, Is that product still available?

Asked by: Bruce69
The Control Spray Max can be used with water base lacquer. It cannot be used with anything that has or cleans up with a flashpoint of less than a 100 degrees. The CS2000 is no longer available but we do have a contractor line of HVLP sprayers that will work for your furniture business. I am painting a small project using an interior latex paint. I am getting a lot of spatter, and have tried different pressures as well as different dilutions. What can I do to fix this?

Asked by: notapainter
You may need to thin the paint just a bit and try again. After you thin it make sure it is mixed up very well with a drill. Also make sure the end of the nozzle is no more than 8" away from what you are spraying. If you still have any problems feel free to call us at 1-800-328-8251.

I asked the question about Valspar Reserve exterior latex paint a few moments ago, because a friend has loaned me her paint sprayer, a Control Max. But I won't use it if the paint has to be thinned, so I need to know. Thanks!

Asked by: MCWH
I am having difficulty using a diluted latex myself. I wouldn't recommend trying it full thickness.

will the wagner control spray max work with solvent based lacquer finishes and/or precatalyzed lacquers

Asked by: cabntman
Our Wagner sprayers are designed to spray materials that clean up with either mineral spirits(oil-based) or warm soapy water(water-based). The components of the sprayers will not hold up against the solvent-based materials. Please contact our technical support staff at 1(800)328-8251 if you have any other questions or needs.

I have a small vintage fiberglass trailer (Boler). I want to repaint the interior. I am wondering if the Wagner 0518080 Control Spray Max HVLP Sprayer Wagner 0518080 Control Spray Max HVLP Sprayer would be suitable to spray gel coat.

Asked by: dee_Jay604
Take a look at our more powerful, Flexio line if you want to spray gelcoat. The 590 and 690 both come with two front ends, one for regular painting and one for finer finishing, which would come in handy for this project. You're welcome to contact us at technical support at 800-328-8251 with more questions.
