Wagner Control Spray Double Duty is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Turned off suddenly I've used this sprayer for a grand total of TWO projects. The sprayer turned off suddenly while trying to stain a fence which is what the sprayer is intended for! I reached out to customer support lets see what happens, will update my review as I learn more about the customer service for this product. The sprayer worked well while it lasted but if I am only able to get two uses out of it then I would say it isn't worth the price

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will not spray! I got this sprayer to paint my house because rolling seemed to take too long. I followed the instructions for the paint manufacturer for if paint needed to be thinned or could be used as is. I tried going slow, going a bit faster, holding it 6 to 8 inches from work. Basically went through every trouble shooting guide there was to make this thing work. Went to run water through it to clean it out and it worked fine spraying the water. So I tried to thin my paint a bit more with water (using water based paint) and still nothing. Maybe I got a faulty sprayer. But seriously disappointed that this sprayer is not working!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Project: Stain my deck and pergola with ease I was a little hesitant to use a sprayer for my deck as I am true believer in using a good brush to apply stain, but my wife said we should try it as it would save a lot of time. As a smart husband, I said YES!! This project would normally take me a whole weekend. When I used the Wagner Control Spray Double Duty it took me 3 hours to do my project. Awesome!! I would, however, recommend putting plastic on your home or anywhere you don't want stain to go as a slight amount of overspray can occur. Clean up was a breeze! I would recommend this product to anyone looking for great coverage in a staining project, and to save time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for the beginner or experienced user I've been with Wagner many, many years and have used primarily their sprayers. This particular sprayer caught my attention for a couple of reasons. One, it's dual material usage and two, the fact that it could be used indoors or out. The price on this model wasn't bad either considering all it's capable of doing. I originally bought this to paint and seal a trellis of my wife's and this sprayer was the perfect choice! It sprayed the material with ease, laid it right down where I wanted it and in the amount I wanted all while being surprisingly quiet! Additionally, this sprayer is easy to maintain and clean which is a real plus for me! I don't have time to spend the rest of my day cleaning a sprayer and Wagner with this sprayer made clean up a breeze. If you're considering buying a sprayer for the very first time or just need an occasional sprayer for those odd jobs, then this is the sprayer you want! It sprays both water and oil based paints and does so with great efficiency and is very stingy on the paint!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stained my whole raised deck in one day. Single handed. This sprayer did a great job, was easy to use and didn't need to be refilled as much as I thought. It did great on the ladder and in every crevous. It cut out randomly from time to time but I'm guessing that's an overheat feature. Easy to clean. Great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to use and clean I bought this sprayer to finish staining our wood patio furniture. Painting by brush was taking my son and me hours. Spraying was so much easier and faster-and the results were great. The modular construction of the unit made it a piece of cake to clean. I'm kind of looking forward to the next project, which for me is something since I hate painting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stopped working I was using it quite nicely. Results were excellent. But suddenly it stopped spray. I cleaned nozzle and other part well. But it throws air into the container but not spraying paint. I can not understand. If gun will send air into the container then how the paint will come up to nozzle. Please explain working.

cleaning the lid filter of 0417201 the necessary procedure ? part 0414364

Asked by: phlip
We recommend doing so because the drying of material can impede the sealing when the cup is screwed up on the housing. If this occurs the cup may not pressurize and no material will be forced up the intake tube to spray. Please reach out to our technical support staff at 1(800)328-8251 if you have any other questions or needs.

If you are spraying a stain that cleans up with water or mineral spirits you may want to look at one of our High Efficiency Airless sprayers at this link, https://www.wagnerspraytech.com/products/paint-sprayers/high-efficiency-airless-series/. They have either longer hoses or the ability to add extra hose, or you can add an extension to the gun to reach the desired height. You can also draw stain directly from a five gallon container. If you would like to call us at 1-800-328-8251 with the specifications of the stain we can help you pick the exact sprayer for your barn project.

My sprayer is only sparying about inch wide.im using water base stain

Asked by: thebigreddog
A small pattern is usually caused by a lack of air flow. It could be a blockage or possibly a turbine issue. Make sure all fluid and air passages are clear and test with water to be sure. If you don't find the issue, give us a call at technical support 800-328-8251.

Can you use a 2 part epoxy with this sprayer?

I want to refinish a bathtub with Klenk's Epoxy Enamel, I know most epoxy paints require a HVLP sprayer. Thinning of sprayed materials

Was reading a manual on this website about thinning and using the viscosity cup to time run out. it did not go into any great detail other than timing and the appropriate run out times. The next step was to fill the materials cup with properly thinned liquid. How do you determine when it is properly thinned? Is it just trial and error until it's thin enough to meet the run out times? I've never used an airless sprayer before so have never notice thinning specifications on the side of paint containers. What is the simple method of thinning any given spray materials? Thanks.
Asked by: gjewers
You are correct in that materials that take longer to run out of the cup should be thinned incrementally (generally about 5% each time) until they meet the required run out times.

control spray double duty spray not evenly ?

It was my second time to used my control spray. l used warm water to clean in and out before start , however, it spray out not evenly. The flow was strong to weak. spray out big area to small area and then stop. when l kept pressing, it went back strong again. l tried to adjusted the nozzle but l don't think it was the cause. is there any part l would change ? thank you
Asked by: princegeorge
Why were you cleaning out the sprayer PRIOR to using it? Was there material left in it? Your sprayer should be thoroughly cleaned after each and every use and allowed to dry completely. You don't want excess water in any of the flow control mechanisms or tubes. Also, have you completely cleaned the sprayer plate that fits over the tip? It has the rubber "O" rings in it. Makes sure that area is completely clean and dry. Also make sure the air ports on both side are clear and free of any obstructions. Look at the paint delivery pin that this plate fits onto. Is all foreign material removed from it from the previous use? This MUST be perfectly clean if you want a smooth consistent spray. If it's not clean, clean it good! Use water or mineral spirits depending on what you last sprayed through your machine. Also, use a small pipe cleaner! These are really handy for cleaning out this area and won't damage these parts during the cleaning process. Remember, a clean sprayer is a happy efficient sprayer!

Overspray Question

I am using this sprayer for the very first time with the Thompson's Waterseal Clear (Green Label) sealant. This mineral oil-based sealant is somewhat more viscous than earlier versions. An ordinary garden spray does not work. My problem is that I have turned the spray control knob all the way in the minus direction to control overspray and still see quite a bit of overspray. I've set the nozzle to spray in a vertical oval pattern and yet I see substantial sealant wasted with the overspray in a left-to-right direction (i.e., opposite of the oval spray pattern setting). Am wondering if I am doing something wrong. I tried controlling flow further by changing how I depressed the trigger but that seems to have no impact. Any suggestions? On a different note, what specific product must I use the clean the sprayer after use with the water seal? A specific product/brand name would help. Thanks.
Asked by: Fencemaster
I'd be curious in finding out how far away you're holding the sprayer away from the material. Too far away and you're going to get overspray every time. Also too, turn the knob nearly completely closed to the trigger itself which will really slow the flow down. As far as clean up? I would use just good old mineral spirits which you can find at WalMart, Menard's, Lowe's or Home Depot.
