Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it! I've been using it for 2 years, 4 kitchens, and 100 pcs of furniture This is a fantastic sprayer, I love the ease of use, and clean up. It's light enough for me to spray for hours almost every day, I refinish furniture for a living. One question... Where can I buy new filters? Cheers!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Paint container lid got stuck and can't refill the paint I was using it to spray paint the ceiling and at first it was a bit leaking so I tighten the lid better, but when the time came to refill the paint I could not untwist the lid off! My husband and I tried the old tricks like running hot water over the lid, sticking a knife between the lid and the can, etc, but to no avail. We're opened to suggestions. Maybe this is not such a good product for a big like painting walls or ceilings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use/efficient We stained our fence and deck last weekend. Originally, they were both a natural cedar-tone color. And we decided to change things up quite a bit and go with a solid stain in a slate gray color. It was suppose to be a "4-Gallon" project according to stain manufacturer's quantity estimate. 10 GALLONS later, we have an amazing looking fence and deck! We couldn't have done it without the sprayer; as we did the spray/back-brush method that was recommended to us. The stain was quite thick since it was a solid stain and they tend to be thicker in consistency. So the sprayer did not work so great in our first attempt. However, we added paint thinner to help with the application and the back-brushing...and that worked beautifully. We will definitely be using this sprayer again. Our only wish would be for the container that holds stain to be a bit larger (for large jobs) so we wouldn't have to fill it too often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST purchase ever This s a great sprayer. I like to pick up older furniture and refinish it. Using a brush is so time consuming so I picked up this sprayer not having high hopes after all its only a $60 dollar peiece of equipment how good could it be. It was amazing the finish is perfect I could not be happier. Another major plus for me is it can be used indoors, here in Wisconsin that is a big plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Biggest time saver ever! I painted one 16' long baseboard with a brush and it took 10 minutes. In the same time I was able to paint 160' with this sprayer. For paint I had to thin out according to instructions. The finish couldn't look better! Cleanup was actually easy. I will be using this to refinish all of my doors next weekend instead of over 5 weekends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Professional job at a fraction of the price. My girlfriend and I bought a house a month ago. We wanted to do few renovations but didn't want to spend a lot of money so we decided to paint the kitchen cabinets that were made of melamine. We also wanted to paint our kitchen table. I started with the kitchen table, trying to paint it with rollers and brushes using a very good primer. Unfortunately, the is so thick that It left a lot of brush marks. Oh what a bad job I did so I decided to sand the mess to make it as smooth as possible and finished with a very good varnish from the company Finitec. It ended up quite nice but what a time consuming and difficult work it was. I anticipated all the work I would have to do to get a nice job with the cabinet doors and I was pretty discouraged about it knowing all the work I would have to do. So I decided to check out on the internet and I came across that sprayer. I bought it without many expectations even if the reviews were pretty good. What a magical thing!! I first primed the doors with it. I used Zinsser cover stain which is VERY thick and leaves a lot of brush marks but with the Wagner control spray, it was chil play. Adjusting the spray, the viscosity with thinner and spraying the doors was very easy and it did a factory job. It went smooth and even. The cleaning was easy and took about 15-20 min. (beeing perfectionnist#. The next day, I sprayed the doors with the color which was Benjamin Moore advance alkyd emulsion. The coverage was perfect, as easy as the primer, the viscosity was very easy to adjust with water and the cleaning even faster ans easier since it was a waterbased paint. I can say that I saved a lot of time #at least 4 X faster) with that sprayer and moreover, did a professional job. I'm a perfectionnist and wanted a perfect job for the cabinet doors and I can say that you can't get better results than this. The cabinets look like new cabinets and the finish is so smooth. I'm planning to do other jobs with the prayer and I think it's the best money I spent in a long time. I've been painting a lot of things with spray cans and brushes and I can say that I never had such good results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Control Spray Double Duty sprayer did a great job on my cabinet doors. My project was to spray paint my kitchen cabinet doors. The sprayer worked great. I was using Behr's Premium Ultra Indoor Semi-gloss paint. It is both paint and primer combined. It is very thick so you have to dilute it down quite a bit so the paint will go through the sprayer. I had read that the paint needed to have about a 55 second flow rate through the timing cup provided with the sprayer. In order to get to that number I had to do a lot of diluting. I ended up adding, per gallon, 1 quart of Floetrol, which is pretty thick itself, and 1 quart and 8 ounces of water. That brought me to a 55 second flow rate. That sounds like a lot of water, but you need it with this paint. At that dilution, the sprayer worked great. The finished job (two coats) looks fantastic. There is very little overspray so you do not waste hardly any paint. I was using a light beige colored paint. Even at that dilution, there was not any noticable change in color. I highly recommend the sprayer. However, it is absolutely essential that you get that flow rate down to at least 55 seconds or below. It is also essential that you keep the spray head clean of any paint that may build up during the job. A quick wipe with a soft paper towel did the trick. I simply wiped the spray head after spraying each door. Cleaning the sprayer is quite easy. It should take not more than 10 minutes to clean it and reassemble it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great product. Overall this product is a good deal. Price is a little high, but setup is easy. Cleanup is fast and easy. Downside is getting right adjusment on spray down and washer doesn't stay on same end when nozzle is taken apart.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful time saving product. I bought this power sprayer to paint my new wooden fence. It is my first experience with a power sprayer. I've always wanted one and this one wasn't disappointing. My project turned out real nice. I wanted use a stain on my fence to protect the wood and make it last longer as suggested by my contractor. It was easier to use and clean up than I imagined. I would strongly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than advertised! Just brought this product home and put it right to work. Control is excellent with very little overspray. You might need to adjust the trigger as it dribbles a little at full spray from the factory. Can't wait for a calm day to finish spraying my house before the salmon runs start. It's a real time saver.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good product, except! I've use it 4 times already and everytime I enjoyed it. It is easy to clean, easy to use, and it saves time compare to using paintbrush or rollers, especillay for fences. I would like a similar product but with cordless features. My only negative comments would be to locate spare parts, like filters, or other parts that may break. Also, I would like to see different size spray attachments like we see using airbrush techniques.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just What I Needed! I bought this unit to spray Kilz Stain Remover on the basement walls in a storage area. It worked perfectly and clean up was fast and simple. This is the second Wagner spray unit I've had and I have NO complaints about the quality workmanship or the end results of using the sprayers. I highly recommend this product...you won't regret it!.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good little unit used it to spray bifold doors.. took awhile to get use to it and its performance.. yes lots of overspray no matter what you do.. not sure about using this in the house, since i did the doors in the garage, and everything is covered with overpsray.. so unless you have everything covered in pastic, then i suppose it would be ok.. the little white filters had to be cleaned the first time. it says to replace with new ones but i just washed then in soapy water..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best way to stain and varnish This was my first time using a sprayer and I see myselft using this for all my staining and varnishing needs. After a few adjustments and practicing on cardboard (I recommend that you not skip this step) to get the flow of stain adjusted to my liking. I stained 250 sq ft. ceiling in about an hour. Prep was important as I was tossing stain upwards. I used 12" poly pre-tape the walls from the ceiling down and a bunch of drop cloths covering the entire floor. That took about an hour. Clean up was pretty simple. I'm not a big fan of solvent clean up #usually buy throw away products# but there are very few parts to flush with mineral sprits which was nice. I repeated the process twice the next two days with a 1 hour varnish for a smooth finish. No drips or runs. Nice!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Tool I've used the product but once since I purchased it. It seems like a well designed unit for the home user. I used it to spray both sides of 1/2 dozen interior doors with latex enamel. I thinned the paint as much as the manufacturer recommended and it was still thicker than the sprayer instructions showed as optimum. It worked fairly well but I had to go over several times for complete coverage. The sprayer was easy to handle and functioned well even with the heavier paint. I'm sure a paint that can be thinned to to the sprayers specifications would work quite well. I was happy with the final result. The unit was fairly easy but a bit tedious to clean

Want to spray polyurethane or lacquer on kitchen cabinets so I want control and not a lot of product to prevent runs. Also interior and exterior doors with latex paint. I am retired and used a Wagner from 30 years ago. Need a new one for better control.

Asked by: Terrwilding
Thank you for your question ! Oil-based Polyurethane and water-based lacquer works well with Control Spray Double Duty. Do not spray or clean with liquids having a flash point of less than 100ºF (38ºC), reference the paint can. Flash point is the temperature at which a fluid can produce enough vapor to ignite. Control Spray Double Duty designed for staining and finishing small to medium sized projects and are capable of spraying low viscosity coatings. Primer and latex paint & primer in one are not recommended to be used in the Control Series. Please give our technical support a call at 1-800-328-8251 and we will be able to assist you with the right recommendation.

What should the runout time be for latex paint and primers when using the control spray double duty

Asked by: Jim new customer
We don't suggest using latex paint in the Control Spray Double Duty. For latex spray painting we suggest our Flexio HVLP line, as they have stronger turbines and larger nozzles for spraying thicker fluids, like latex paint. The CSDD is set up for thin bodied materials, like stain and polyurethane. For help choosing the right sprayer for your projects call us first at 1-800-328-8251.

I just bought the Control Spray Double duty to paint my shed. As I am reading the information it tells me that I need to thin my paint in order to use this paint gun. What is the ratio that I will need to reduce it to.

Asked by: dblieb
The Control Spray DD is set up for thin bodied materials like stain and polyurethane. It will struggle with latex paint. We don't suggest thinning more than 20% with water. We also suggest our Flexio line of HVLP sprayers when latex paint is the product. Take a look at these - https://www.wagnerspraytech.com/products/paint-sprayers/flexio-series/ For help choosing the right sprayer for your project call us first at 1-800-328-8251.

Where would latex base paint land in the thinning chart?

Asked by: jeffwil
We don't suggest the Control Spray series for latex paint. You'll notice it's not on the thinning list at all. The sprayer is ideal for applying thin materials such as stains, sealers, urethane's, varnishes and water based lacquers. For latex paint we suggest the Flexio series of HVLP as they have more power and a larger nozzle for thick materials like latex paint. For help choosing the right sprayer for the project, call us first at 1-800-328-8251.
