Will this sprayer work with polyurethane

Asked by: Ellisv6
Yes the Control Spray 250 will spray oil based or water based polyurethane. Some thicker materials may require some thinning. As little as 5% makes a big difference in how it sprays. For more tips call us at 1-800-328-8251.

what is the tip size for the control spray 250? (Paint can says use tip size .015)

Asked by: RayP
The paint can is talking about an airless sprayer, the Control Spray 250 is HVLP. It uses a turbine to create airflow for atomization. .015" is a standard latex tip size which would indicate that it will work with your Control Spray 250 if you thin the paint 5-10% with water. For more spraying tips, call us at 1-800-328-8251.

Can you use acrylic pain on the 250?

Asked by: Lupe
Most water based or oil based paints, stains and finishes are fine in the 250. Acrylic paint may require some thinning for better atomization. Never thin more than 20%, 10% is usually sufficient. For more tips call us at 1-800-328-8251.

How do you adjust nozzle to narrow or widen spray area.

Asked by: Alice
There are three pattern settings. Vertical fan, horizontal fan and detail. With the air horns at top and bottom you will get a horizontal fan, with the horns at left and right you will get a vertical fan and with the horns at a 45 degree angle you will get a round "detail" pattern. Typically with an HVLP sprayer you would be 6" from the project. But if you move away slightly the pattern gets bigger and if you move in slightly the pattern gets smaller. Also, if you have the paint flow up high the pattern is bigger and the paint flow down low for a smaller pattern. It's the combination of all of these adjustments that gives you control of the spray pattern size. This can all be practiced with water in the gun. For more help call us at 1-800-328-8251.

Can I use a sprayer on a ceiling and what kind of paint should I use

Asked by: TDanny
The Control Spray is meant for thin bodied material like stain and polyurethane. It will struggle with latex paint even when thinned. You can also only tilt the Control Spray up, up to 45 degrees before risking paint in the turbine motor. Look at our Flexio 4000 for painting your ceiling with thick latex paint. Good luck with your project. For more tips call us at 1-800-328-8251.

I am debating between the double duty and 250. I want to use it around the house for a new cedar fence, possibly trim work, painting doors white, deck stain. Is there much difference between the two models? Thanks

Asked by: Ryan86
Neither of them will work with latex paint without a lot of thinning. Better to look at our Flexio line of HVLP, they have more power and larger nozzles for thick paints. https://www.wagnerspraytech.com/?s=flexio

I am spraying a solid oil based stain and while it goes on just fine, the turbine shuts down intermittedly for some reason like power is cut to the sprayer. It occurs whether there is a full reservoir or partially empty. Any idea what causes this?

Asked by: George3
The amount of fluid in the paint container has nothing to do with whether it runs or not. But you may have an electrical connection issue? Call us for warranty service at 1-800-328-8251.

I would like to stain my front porch but don't know how it's a dark stain color. It was done before I purchase the house a week ago what should I do and how does preparations go?

Asked by: carol44
If it's bare wood, you can just spray your stain, if it's previously stained or painted it may require sanding or cleaning to prepare. Adjust the sprayer for maximum flow with minimum spitting. Too much fluid exiting the sprayer will cause spitting, cut down on stain flow to reduce spit. Spray from 6-10" from the project and cover anything you don't want to spray. I just bought this sprayer for use with latex paint. Its not powerful enough, in my view to paint with latex. I tried thinning it any it did not make a difference, what is a paint conditioner??

Asked by: PSWBest
The Control Spray 250 should spray some latex paints but they will need to be thinned. If you are thinning the paint with water you may try adding some paint conditioner which helps to improve paint flow and workability. Almost everyone that carries paint will have a paint conditioner so you can check with your local paint store. Wagner makes a product called Paint Easy and another popular one is Floetrol. Make sure the paint and conditioner/water is mixed up well and strained. If you still have an issue feel free to call us at 1-800-328-8251 and we will assist you.
