Wagner Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity to Give Back to the Community
MINNEAPOLIS – November 10th, 2021 -We sprayed our way to the finish line…we mean we SPRINTED our way to the finish line this past weekend at the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon! Members of the Minneapolis Wagner team joined together with other local companies to run in 5K and 10K races to support Twin Cities in Motion (TCM) where our team came in 6th and 3rd place respectively out of over 2,600 participants. Wagner Minneapolis employees recently volunteered at Habitat for Humanity, which is a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call home. They believe affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities. Wagner employees came together to help with the building process of two local Minnesota homes and Wagner also generously donated a $10,000 monetary donation to help with the rebuilding efforts.
The groups spent two separate days at the houses and got their hands dirty by hanging drywall, working on a garage, building a porch, framing doorways, removing walls, fixing drywall and more! Here’s what they had to say about the rewarding experience:
Wendy volunteered and said, “I really enjoyed being able to work alongside my team members for the day doing something “different” and building this home for a family that I am sure is so deserving of this opportunity. Of course it makes us feel good inside but I can’t imagine the overwhelming joy of this family when they get to move into their new home. We’ve all had times where things are tough and it’s so wonderful to be able to try to give back even if it’s just for a day!”
Tim said, “This was my very first Habitat experience and it was great one. Working together to build and see projects come together, and knowing that what you are doing will help impact someone’s life for the better. A new experience and fun way to help contribute to a great cause.”
Jessica adds, “It was fun to learn a new skill while helping out a family in need. I had a great time bonding with my co-workers in a deeper and more personal way on a goal that is different than our work goals. It neutralized our differences and brought us closer together.”
Chip enjoyed the event and said, “It was really rewarding to get out in the community with a great team from Wagner and help on a build. They had most of us doing drywall which was new for me, but they provided enough guidance and coaching throughout the day that it never felt overwhelming even as a beginner.”
Wagner has even more exciting volunteering events and donations planned for the future. Stay tuned to hear how we’re giving back to our communities!
