Step 1
Surface preparations are critical to every painting project. It is important to remove all the debris, dirt and loose paint prior to priming or painting to allow the paint to properly adhere to the surface so paint it will have better protection and longer durability.

Scrape, sand and pressure wash all the old paint and debris. To remove the paint, the Wagner PaintEater does a great job and is fast, so it will save valuable time.

Step 2
Repair or replace any loose or damaged boards prior to pressure washing.

Step 3
When pressure washing, spray in a steady, consistent pattern to avoid missing any spots and cleaning some areas multiple times. To be efficient  don't jump around while spraying. Keep the sprayer 10-12 inches away from the surfaces and move at a steady pace.

Step 4
Allow for plenty of time for the surface to dry  at least 24 hours.

Step 5
Taping. Mask off any areas you don't want covered with primer or paint such as the metal trim, hinges, locks etc.

Step 6
Priming. Will provide good protection on the wood, especially if it is new bare wood.

Step 7
Spraying. Using a Wagner ProCoat, keep the sprayer 10-12 inches from the surface, working in a consistent pattern. Overlap each spray pattern about 30% to have even coverage.

Step 8
Allow the primer to dry. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Step 9
Painting. Using a Wagner ProCoat, keep the sprayer 10-12 inches from the surface, working in a consistent pattern. Overlap each spray pattern about 30% to have even coverage. Complete the trim.
