I am considering purchasing a 9145 for around the house painting as well as the application of anti fouling on my boat. My experience with airless spraying systems is that the paint is applied in droplets resulting in a rough finish. By comparison a rolled finish in the past has been better that a sprayed finish. Please advise.

Answer:
You should be able to achieve a smooth finish with an airless sprayer as long as the sprayer matches the specifications of your paint.

For instance, the 9145 will spray at a maximum of 3000 PSI and can use up to a .015 tip size. The paint manufacturer should be able to supply you with information about how many PSI and what size tip to use with their paint.

It is definitely a machine designed for use with latex paints, however I doubt it'll give you the type of finish you desire for your boat. I'd suggest a larger contractor-grade piece of equipment for that.

Unfortunately there is not a 55 gallon extension for this unit. You can draw material from a 1 gallon can or 5 gallon bucket.

Answer:
The ProCoat 9145 handles at largest a spray tip size 0.015". As long as you purchase paint that can be sprayed through a 0.015" spray tip or smaller you should not need to thin it. Check the back of the can of paint for information from the manufacturer on what size tip they recommend for spraying their paint.
