Start Power Washing The Surface

Hard water can create water spots on glass that can be very difficult to remove. Save yourself additional work by covering windows with plastic prior to power washing.

Large water filters can be rented to treat hard water coming through a power washer.

Using a 15 degree tip, move sprayer head perpendicular to the decks surface.

Maintain, the same distance from tip of the washer to the deck surface throughout the cleaning. Start the cleaning process at the edge of the deck moving with the length of the decking.

Advice From The Pros

If possible use a moisture reader prior to sealing a deck. Reading should come in at 15 or below. Do not seal any wood if readings are above this 15. Moisture issues such as mold, pealing, splitting and many others will occur if wood is sealed prior to being completely dry.

If a moisture reader is not available, wait a minimum of three sunny days for any surfaces that have been cleaned using water.

Clean Deck

Remove any surface debris or other items from your deck prior to application of any sealer. Always wait a minimum of three sunny days after power washing before attempting to seal a deck.
