The PaintMate Roller is a wonderful tool. It is a great idea implemented well. One the paint can is stirred or shaken, just put the plastic filler lid on it which comes with the PaintMate, draw up the paint directly into the PaintMate, and begin rolling, squeezing the trigger as needed to put more paint on the roller. No need for a roller pan, and no trips back to the pan for paint. You can paint anywhere from a 4x8 to a 8x8 area with one fill, depending on the roughness of the surface and on primer.
The only downside is the one-way filler valve inside the PaintMate. It is called a duckbill valve and it splits or ruptures very easily. Once that happens, it has to be replaced before you can use the PaintMate, or paint will squirt out of the filler tube instead of going to the roller. Wagner needs to redesign the valve or make the rubber duckbill out of sturdier material. Mine split with the first use and I had to seal it off with tape each time I filled the PaintMate. I have ordered several replacement valves (about $2 each) so I have backups.
Prossaves time, saves work, great idea
Consfiller valve ruptures quickly, valve should be made of better material
Yes, I recommend this product.

I'm a traditional indoor paint roller user so I wasn't sure what to expect. It actually works just like a roller but less trips to the paint tray and no drips on the way to the wall. This product came in handy when painting above a cabinet on a ladder. Clean up was simple but diffrent than just cleaning the roller nap. Few more parts to clean. I'd make sure you flush all parts out before you store it away or things may not work right the next time.
Prosless trips to the paint tray, no drips from the roller

I have used a similar product for the last 30 years. I was pleasently surprised that Wagner was now providing this product. The quality of the complete system is amazing. The filler tube valve assembly can be removed for cleaning which was a major problem with my past painters. The roller assembly is far better than the other brand painters. The seals on the roller assembly are very well made. Cleaning is a snap. This product is now half the price I paid years ago. What a great Wedding present for newly weds. There's always a baby room to paint.

When new the paint stick (and this applies to all manual sticks) works great and gets the job done for an amature wuickly. However, if you want to use the same paint stick 6 months later, paint will leak out of the refill valves. Even when you take extra care to clean and grease the values after each use. The leaking causes lots of problems on the walls and floors. If you want to order new valve, then painting has to wait, which doesn't work for me as I usually set time aside for painting out of my busy schedule. I found the easiest thing to do is to buy a new paint stick as they are cheap enough and the time saved is worth the money.
Prosfast
Consleaks the second time around
Yes, I recommend this product.
