Great Product I have had a lot of luck and would recommend this product to anyone. It is not the best for small projects as it does take 30-45 minutes to clean. I just painted my shed with it. The shed is 16x8 and would have taken about 4-6 hours to paint with a brush. I had two coats done cumalatively in under 45 minutes. I tried using it to put on a light stain but I have had better luck with dark colors. I have mastered clean up. It still takes a long time, but I am not there for most of it. After I dump the paint from the hopper, I wash the hopper out with a garden hose. I then put the hopper on a slight angle so as water spills out it does not land on the electric motor. I place the machine on spray. I remove the tip and put an elastic or wire tie around the gun's trigger. I fill the hopper with water and turn the machine on. I put a garden hose in the hopper and turn it on with just enough force so that as the gun is spraying, the hose is replacing the water. I walk away for about 20 minutes. When I come back, the water coming out of the gun is totally clean. I then put the machine on prime and put the tube on the ground again walking away for 20 minutes. When I come back I put it on spray again for 5 minutes just to be safe. I wash the nozzle to the gun in the kichen sink. This process takes about 45 minutes but you are only cleaning the machine for about 10. ALWAYS STORE THE UNIT INSIDE AS FREEZING WILL RUIN IT. September 10, 2012
time saver what use to take me three days to paint by hand, took me four hours with my wagner paint crew. February 15, 2013
I recommend but make sure to fully clean each time parts seem hard to find. none on this web site I recommend but make sure to fully clean each time I recommend but make sure to fully clean each time February 11, 2013
easy This Paint crew paint sprayer is easy to setup after carefully following the instructions, knocks your painting time by more than half. Clean up takes longer than setting the machine up. January 28, 2013
I would heasate to buy again I painted in 2 days 15 gallons of latex paint after 13 gallons it no longer built up pressure to shut off, then the pattern left it became liney. When i would stop it would build up a little pressure then drop when i pulled the trigger. this thing should have lasted longer than 2 days. November 30, 2012
Covers a lot of ground quickly I bought my Paintcrew for another house. I broke it out again to paint a large bedroom and bathroom. I've got the roller attachment. It gets the job done in one coat. A 14X12 and 10X8 foot room took about two gallons of paint - one fill up on the crew. I had a hard time getting it started because I forgot to push the inlet valve down to make sure it wasn't stuck, my bad. The biggest negative is clean up in the winter time is a hassle in Alaska and that tends to be the time I paint. November 12, 2012
Brand new and sprayed for less than 2 minutes! Not happy at all, worked for less than 2 minutes and broke! November 4, 2012
great tool I will have to admit I bought it used, so my cost is a bit lower than new. However I have used this type machine before and forgot how neat they work. Clean 110% and store with apropiate chemicals (not water base). This is my only complaint. Can't Wagner make the internal parts out of stainless steel?? thx Bill October 23, 2012

I was using the paint crew after a long term storage. At first it worked as it should. The pump would build pressure and then shut off until the trigger was pulled. Over the course of spraying less than a gallon of paint (bare wood primer sealer)the pump would no longer build pressure enough to shut off or spray properly (low pressure). This unit has sprayed less than 5 gallons of paint since new. It this an outlet valve issue or something else?

Answer:
My outlet valve was not holding pressure in the paint hose and not enough pressure was available to spray paint. The problem was the outlet valve. I removed the disk at the interior end of the outlet valve by prying it up through the slot on the side of the valve with an awl (ice-pick). Underneath the disk was a spring and a valve seat. The valve seat had a cut O-ring on it and that was why it was not holding pressure. I went to Lowes and bought a box of ten #60 O-rings for $2.50, replaced that O-ring, and it works fine now when I test it with water. I'll paint with it this weekend to see if it works with paint and for how long. I've owned this painter for eight years, but have only used it three times. I think I have pumped nine 5 gallon buckets of paint through it in its lifetime. I'll have to see how long it lasts this time. At least I have 9 spare O-rings to fix it.

Answer:
While spraying make sure that you are doing an arm's length pass and letting go of the trigger. If you are holding down the trigger continuously you are never allowing your sprayer to build up pressure. If you are still having problems take out your outlet valve and clean it really well in warm soapy water. There is a small disc on the bottom of the outlet valve that you need to remove and clean the o-ring and spring behind the disc. Once you have removed the disc inspect and oil the spring and o-rings and put it back together. if you continue to have problems you may need to replace your outlet valve.
You will also want to check with the manufacture of the paint you are spraying to see what they recommend for a tip size when using an airless sprayer. The maximum tip size that sprayer can support is a .015. If the manufacture of the paint recommends a tip size larger than a .015 it will wear your valve prematurely.

Losing power

I've painted several houses with the "crew" and love the sprayer but towards the end of the second house the sprayer would lose power and not give a good coverage. Would this indicate seals or something needing to be replaced?

This would indicate that the suction hose or inlet is clogged and needs cleaning. May be that the paint is to thick and news to be thinned

Answer:
It sounds like your outlet valve may be beginning to wear. You can take your outlet valve out and clean it really well in warm soapy water. There is a small disc on the bottom of the valve. You want to check the o-ring on the disc to make sure that it is not damaged. There is also a small o-ring and spring behind the disc that you are going to want to inspect and clean. To remove the disc take a small screw driver and pop the disc off. Once you have the disc off clean and inspect the o-ring and spring, oil, and reassemble. Once you have cleaned the outlet valve put your sprayer back together and test it to see if it will build up pressure. if you continue to experience problems with the sprayer not building pressure you will need to replace the outlet valve.

We have a new Paint Crew Plus and are attempting to paint a two story garage, buy are very disappointed with the performance of the sprayer. We tried out sprayer first with water and that worked fine with a good even spray, but when we used the paint it began to clog every 20 to 40 seconds losing power and dripping. We did notice that sprayer did perform better on lower level. We would soon like to paint our two story house and don't want to have the same experience. We completely washed all parts in cluding the nozzle with each use. Thank you

Answer:
Unscrew the tube or the handle of the gun. Inside there is a screen. Be sure the screen is clean. If it has chunks of paint you may need to replace that screen. Once you have the handle and screen removed you will see a white piece of plastic. Unscrew that and remove the spring and bearing. This usually has dry paint on it and will break off and clog the tip. That was the problem I had. It will work like new when you are done cleaning those few items.

I was reading the other post on losing pressure with the Paint Crew. I took the outlet valve out and and checked the o-ring and removed the disc on the bottom to clean it. When I flipped the disc over I noticed the edges around the hole in the middle were extremely worn, it looked like someone took a Dremel tool to it and carved it all up. Also the inner o-ring and plastic cap for the spring is also eaten away. I just bought the sprayer last week and was able to get my house 3/4 of the way painted before this happened. Should it wear out this fast or is this an aberration?

The metal used in this machine is not of the best quality and are arguably made to wear out. Check your receipt if you still have it and the warranty should replace it.

Answer:
The valve will wear in about 30-50 gallons depending on the type of paint you are using. If you are using a paint that requires a larger tip size than what the sprayer can support the valves will wear faster. The maximum tip size the sprayer can support is .015.

Please do not recommend visiting my local retail or service center these places do not deal with the so called low cost sprayers for home use. I love this machine; I even have two of them. Cleaning and proper use is very important but unfortunately pieces do wear out.
