Follow these basic painting tips to improve the look of your home and protect it for years to come.
Scrape flaking and peeling paint so new paint will adhere better.
Use a handheld scraper or Wagner PaintEater to get the paint removed.
Use a drop cloth to collect the paint chips.
Follow sanding with a pressure washer to remove the remaining paint chips and get the siding clean.Check for mold and mildew and make sure that is removed.
Use spackling compound to fill in holes.

Mask and cover the trim and areas you don’t want painted
Save your plants – be sure to cover plants and bushes. Use a fabric drop cloth instead of plastic, which can create a green house effect and damage plants.
Paint the trim first before the siding. That way it will you’ll avoid ladder marks on the fresh paint.
Trim your plants and bushes.Allow a 10 -12 inch gap between plants and bushes and your house.Plants can hold moisture against the house causing mold and rot. The gap allows air to move and allows some working space while painting.
