Control Spray Double Duty

Fine Finishing

Overview

The Wagner Control Spray Double Duty uses HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) air power technology to spray thin materials such as stains, sealers, urethanes, varnishes, and lacquers. It features a two stage indoor/outdoor rated air turbine for a continuous flow of material and air producing a professional fine finish whether staining your deck or refinishing your kitchen cabinets. Use indoor or outdoor.

A three position air cap adjusts the spray pattern for either vertical fan, horizontal fan, or round pattern shapes to most effectively get the job done quickly and with the best even coverage. Material flow is easily controlled with the variable trigger allowing the user to spray 1/2 inch wide to 9 inch wide patterns. Sets up in less than 5 minutes and cleans up in less than 10 minutes.

Wagner Control Spray Double Duty 4.7 5 23 23
Paint container lid got stuck and can't refill the paint I was using it to spray paint the ceiling and at first it was a bit leaking so I tighten the lid better, but when the time came to refill the paint I could not untwist the lid off! My husband and I tried the old tricks like running hot water over the lid, sticking a knife between the lid and the can, etc, but to no avail. We're opened to suggestions. Maybe this is not such a good product for a big like painting walls or ceilings. October 3, 2013
Easy to use/efficient We stained our fence and deck last weekend. Originally, they were both a natural cedar-tone color. And we decided to change things up quite a bit and go with a solid stain in a slate gray color. It was suppose to be a "4-Gallon" project according to stain manufacturer's quantity estimate. 10 GALLONS later, we have an amazing looking fence and deck! We couldn't have done it without the sprayer; as we did the spray/back-brush method that was recommended to us. The stain was quite thick since it was a solid stain and they tend to be thicker in consistency. So the sprayer did not work so great in our first attempt. However, we added paint thinner to help with the application and the back-brushing...and that worked beautifully. We will definitely be using this sprayer again. Our only wish would be for the container that holds stain to be a bit larger (for large jobs) so we wouldn't have to fill it too often. August 27, 2013
BEST purchase ever This s a great sprayer. I like to pick up older furniture and refinish it. Using a brush is so time consuming so I picked up this sprayer not having high hopes after all its only a $60 dollar peiece of equipment how good could it be. It was amazing the finish is perfect I could not be happier. Another major plus for me is it can be used indoors, here in Wisconsin that is a big plus. February 19, 2013
Is great for waterproof stain This past summer I used my sprayer to paint my privatecy fence. It did a great job, it was extremely easy to use. February 15, 2013
As Seen in EXTREME HOW-TO This sprayer was featured in a recent article. The Lowdown on Painting Tile. http://extremehowto.com/the-lowdown-on-painting-tile/?page=all November 15, 2012
great product this product is by far the best paint sprayer iv ever used, i just got done sealing a 1500 square foot deck, at first i was using a regular wagner spray gun, i went through so much sealant and the over spray was horrible, i returned it and purchased the control spray, it was the best decion i ever made, this gun is like a dream, it made my job a breeze, i love it!! Great Unit for the Price This is a great unit for the price. Made staining our fence a breeze! September 12, 2012
Biggest time saver ever! I painted one 16' long baseboard with a brush and it took 10 minutes. In the same time I was able to paint 160' with this sprayer. For paint I had to thin out according to instructions. The finish couldn't look better! Cleanup was actually easy. I will be using this to refinish all of my doors next weekend instead of over 5 weekends. August 22, 2012

Answer:
You can spray latex paint. However, you really have to dilute it way down so you get a flow rate of at least 55 seconds or below in order for it to go through the sprayer. I had no noticeable change in color even at that dilution rate. I used a combination of Floetrol and Water.

Answer:
I'm told you can as long as you dilute your paint with water. I have found the Double Duty is more of a stain and varnish spayer for small to med projects.

Answer:
The best ratio to follow is going to usually be on the back of your paint can. They will typically give you guidelines to follow to thin their material.

However, the Control Spray Double Duty is not rated for used with latex paint. It is a thin-bodied material sprayer, such as stains, sealers, varnishes etc.

This sprayer came up in a search for airless sprayers but I can't tell if it is truly airless or not. The product I plan to spray calls for an airless sprayer and I don't want to ruin a good sprayer by using it with the wrong stuff.

Answer:
No, the Control Spray Double Duty is not an airless sprayer. It is an HVLP - High Volume Low Pressure sprayer. If your material specifies an airless machine, this is not the right machine to use.

Answer:
We do not recommend using lacquer thinner with the Control Spray Double Duty. With oil-based materials we would recommend mineral spirits for cleaning. The only lacquer products that can be used with this gun are water-based lacquer with a flash point above 70 degrees.
